In My Free Time...

There are several ways in which I've been spending my free time here in Moshi:
- Going to the markets---you'll find a plethora of things at any one of them! A variety of produce neatly stacked in small pyramids on the ground, plastic household goods (pitchers, different types of containers, clothes pins, etc.), used clothing---lots of it, beautifully patterned fabrics, dried fish, spices, lines of undergarments, the list is endless.
- Going to see the "Dolphin Lady"---a seamstress in town that makes all kinds of stuff with fabric that you find at the markets or in town. It's quite a popular "activity" among some of the girls at the hostel, and is a bit addicting...
- Going to the pool at the Sal Salinero hotel---it's clean, refreshingly cold (not sure how they keep it that way) and they have watermelon juice.
- Running the Kilimanjaro Marathon 5K and crossing the finish line with your friends! We spent the morning at the stadium watching the marathoners and half-marathoners come in, listened to the band play, drank beer and ate frozen pieces of pineapple on skewers to cool off.
- Doing Swahili homework for my next lesson with Mama Alice.
- Cutting hair---this one is a bit random, but started one night with Claire, the Aussie. She wanted a pixie cut, I said I'd do it, and it turned out really nicely so I had a line of people wanting their hair cut as well!
- Working on a logo for Tuleeni---once it's done it will be posted on a website, still in the works...
